Health equity is linked to poor quality and safety depending on the individual’s race, ethnicity, culture, socio-economic status, education, and other factors. How do such factors also impact patients with behavioral health and psychiatric issues? Behavioral health expert Johan Smith will focus on the positive and negative quality and safety implications that can be explored from a health equity standpoint. This session will discuss implicit bias and how the inequity and bias impact the quality of care and safety of the individual. The topics of telepsychiatry and virtual partial hospital programs focused on young adults will also be highlighted as they are changing the space of behavioral health.
