Bert Thurlo-Walsh is the Chief Quality Officer and Vice President at Milford Regional Medical Center (MRMC) in Milford, Massachusetts. Bert is responsible for leadership and oversight of the Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Risk/Claims Management, Accreditation, Patient Relations, Infection Control, Interpreter Services, Case Management, Pharmacy, Psychiatry, Organizational Excellence, Data Analytics, Patient Experience, Medical Education, and Medical Library activities at MRMC. Bert has over 30 years of experience in healthcare, with almost 20 years in Quality and Patient Safety. Bert’s recent past experiences included the Associate Chief Quality Officer & Vice President at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts, and the Director of Quality and Patient Safety at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Massachusetts. Bert holds two Bachelor’s degrees; one in Natural Science & Mathematics and the other in Nursing. He has his Masters in Management, Healthcare and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Bert completed the Advisory Board Company’s Executive Fellowship (FABC) program. He is a Past President of the New England Association for Healthcare Quality and an active member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ). Bert served on the NAHQ Education Commission, and past NAHQ Next Conference Planning Chair.
