Patient Safety Programs Manager – ColumbiaDoctors

Janet Joseph has five years of experience in the healthcare industry, which spans the realms of clinical research, patient safety, noncommunicable diseases, and pediatrics. She has worked for three years as a Clinical Research Assistant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, focusing on prevention and intervention studies for Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. Her interest in urban health systems brought her to Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health to pursue her MPH, during which she also worked as a Patient Safety Intern with ColumbiaDoctors’ Department of Quality and Patient Safety. Upon completing her MPH, Joseph transitioned to the role of Patient Safety Programs Manager at ColumbiaDoctors. She believes one of the key components of delivering high quality healthcare is creating a culture of safety and high reliability. As such, her team work tirelessly to implement initiatives, such as the Patient Safety Champions Program, to promote patient safety knowledge, increase organization-wide event reporting, and increase staff engagement in their department’s patient safety activities.
