Melanie Cariker is uniquely qualified to present this information to the NAHQ audience due to her innovative expertise in the topic we are presenting. Cariker has been in healthcare since 1998 and has been growing her expertise ever since. From a bedside ICU nurse to a nurse manager, to a Quality and Outcomes manager, together with her team, Cariker helped implemented several workflows using innovative systems, workflows, and programs that can make an eight-hour work be completed in one hour or less creating a more efficient environment for the whole team. Moreover, the engagement of the physicians increased tremendously using the methods her team applied, improving the patient-centered quality metrics and maintaining the hospital rankings of her organization. Cariker is currently attending California State University’s Doctorate in Nursing Practice where she started gaining expertise in research, journal publication, systematic reviews of literature, epidemiology (extremely useful for COVID-19 pandemic), healthcare policy and politics, ethics in healthcare, and several quality improvement projects. Cariker recently assumed the leadership role in Regulatory and Accreditation where she prepare her organization to unannounced The Joint Commission and Department of Health visits. With her wide array of knowledge, she feels extremely confident that she can present effectively to her NAHQ audience.
