Michael Dexter, MA, RRT, CSSBB, CAP, is a quality improvement team leader (QITL) with The Johns Hopkins Hospital. In his role, he manages projects and other initiatives to mitigate risks, improves performance, and collaborates with physicians and administrators to execute the implementation of the clinical quality initiatives that align with strategic initiatives or functional unit quality improvement teams. During his tenure as the quality improvement project manager for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, he was the QI project manager for the Unplanned Extubation (UE) project, resulting in a 30% decrease in UEs the first year. Dexter joined The Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2020 as the QITL for The Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and utilized quality improvement methodology and interdisciplinary activities to improve initiatives implemented with the UE project continuously. He is confident that his seven years of experience working with UE would provide excellent insight and value to NAHQ Next.
