Thomas R. Matthews, BSN, RN
Registered Nurse – Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center
Thomas Matthews is a May 2020 BSN RN graduate selected to Good Samaritan Hospitals ANCC accredited Emergency Department RN residency program. Throughout the 12-month training program, his residency group conducted a department PI project based on quantifying how much time an emergency nurse can be called away from the bedside to tend to rapid responses throughout the department. Prior to becoming a BSN RN, he had a career working in the actuarial sciences and dealing with asset management. Matthews has a MS degree in actuarial sciences from Columbia University with an extensive statistical background, making him a great candidate to analyze and speak on behalf of his research findings. He has presented his findings on multiple occasions, in which most recently his team has won the ‘People’s Choice’ award at Molloy College’s nursing research conference (a college annually ranked as a top nursing school in the nation).
