Quality Nurse Specialist III – ECU Health Duplin

I am a Quality Nurse Specialist III, and I am also certified as a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL). CNL’s assess the microsystem utilizing the 5P Assessment to make performance improvement changes. (Purpose, Patients, Professionals, Processes, and Patterns.) For this project, I utilized my role within the health system to identify gaps in hospital-associated infection reduction. We identified hand hygiene as a primary opportunity to improve care. Utilizing a multimodal quality approach, we were able to improve our hand hygiene adherence by 22.8% over a 9 month period.
