Acting Deputy Director of Evidence-Based Practice – Department of Veterans Affairs

Dr. Jennifer Ballard-Hernandez is the acting deputy director of evidence-based practice in the Office of Quality and Patient Safety in the Veterans Health Administration. She has served the Department of Veterans Affairs in various roles over her ten-year employment tenure, including as the Cardiology Clinical Nurse Advisor to the Office of Nursing Services in Washington, DC, and as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner at the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center in Long Beach, California. She serves as a Captain in the US Air Force Reserve for the 452nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron. Throughout her professional and military career, she has played a pivotal role in organizational change management and process improvement. She has developed several national Directives that have influenced national interdisciplinary practice, standardizing processes and improving patient safety at the national level.
