Patient Safety Clinician – Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital

Baldemor serves as Patient Safety Clinician at Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, TX for 1.5 years. She also had been teaching nursing academia for six years: ABSN students in the University of Incarnate Word and ADN students at Galen College of Nursing. Prior to transferring to Patient Safety, she was the Nurse Manager for Inpatient Mental Health for five years where she implemented safety interventions including the installation of Soft Suicide Prevention Doors (SSPD) which was adopted by the facility’s remote CLC locked dementia unit, the introduction of Fall Risk Assessment (Wilson Sims Fall Assessment) that is specific to Mental Health population, and formulation of individualized Mental Health nursing care plans which is also utilized in Acute Care to patients with underlying Mental Health conditions. Baldemor enjoys her new role as she makes a difference in ensuring safe patient care and environment are provided to our nation’s heroes.
