Peter McCulloch, MD

Professor of Surgical Science & Practice – University of Oxford

Peter McCulloch was appointed Reader (Assistant Professor) in surgery at University of Oxford in 2004, and full Professor in 2013. He graduated from Aberdeen University and underwent surgical and academic training in Glasgow, before becoming Senior Lecturer at Liverpool University in 1992. Peter currently Chairs the IDEAL Collaboration, an initiative to improve the quality of research in surgery and the QRSTU Research group which is dedicated to studies of Quality and Safety interventions in surgery. This group have recently been involved in work to assist the response to the COVID pandemic. They are also working on interventions to reduce the risk of Failure to Rescue in deteriorating surgical patients.
