Abdel Latif Marini is a healthcare leader and nurse by profession with an extensive background in healthcare quality and safety. During the last 10 years, his work included leading teams to improve patient outcomes, and reducing adverse events at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore. Currently serving as the Director of Quality for the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, he oversees the quality and safety functions for two hospitals within the system. He holds a master’s degree in nursing in Healthcare Informatics from the University of Colorado, Denver. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), and a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS). As a guest lecturer on healthcare quality and patient safety courses at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Abdel Latif shares his expertise with other leaders in the field. He has co-authored several papers and serves as a peer reviewer for BMJ Quality Reports.
