Director of Quality, Oncology Service Line – University of Kansas Health System

Debbie Fernandez, MS, MHSA, LMLP, CPHQ is a healthcare quality improvement professional serving the role of director of quality for the Oncology Service Line at the University of Kansas Health System. Her responsibilities include overseeing a team of 36 FTE that focuses on sustaining performance, process, and safety improvements by leveraging Lean methodologies, applying health data analytics to demonstrate improvements, facilitating regulatory and accreditation compliance, improving the patient experience, and cancer registry activities within the oncology service line. Debbie is also an education instructor for the department of population health at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She co-teaches a Spring semester quality and operation course for the Master of Health Service Administration program. Debbie holds dual master’s degrees in health service administration from the University of Kansas Medical Center and clinical psychology from Pittsburg State University. She holds certifications as a Lean Certified Workshop Leader, Six Sigma Black Belt Professional, and Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ).
