Deborah Owens, PhD, serves as MHRRTP chief for the Veterans Health Administration Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VHAGLA). She returned to VHA in March 2020 after 14 months as a Health Systems Specialist with the VA Office of Inspector General (OIG). Prior to the OIG position I worked for VHA for 18 years. She was the site manager for the LA Ambulatory Care Center and oversaw more than 300 staff and 14,000 patients. She also served as Acting Administrative Director for Community-Based Care, Acting Associate Chief, Mental Health, and Acting Associate Chief, Psychology. She served as a staff psychologist and worked with postdoctoral fellows and interns. She received leadership training, including the Healthcare Leadership Development Program (National) and the Leadership Development Institute. She is a Lean Healthcare Green Belt Specialist. I have a doctorate in clinical psychology, completed an internship at VHA, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, specializing in HIV/AIDS.
