Marc Hoffmann, MD

Marc Hoffmann, MD

Associate Professor; Medical Director of Quality Improvement – University of Kansas Health System

Marc Hoffmann has served as the medical director of quality improvement at our cancer center for the last 5 years. In this role, he is responsible for the prioritization and execution of all quality improvement projects and integrating our objectives with the strategic goals of the health system. While optimization of scores in third-party survey data (Vizient, CG-CAHPS, and HCAHPS) does not in and of itself ensure high-quality care, his experience has been that poor marks in a domain frequently point to opportunities for improved service. His colleague and he are uniquely positioned to present this case study of one such intervention due to (1) their extensive experience in QI and (2) they are a dyad with the administrative perspective of a quality director and the clinical perspective of an academic physician.
