Physician Attending, Sepsis Physician Champion – Keck Medicine of USC
Tarina Kang is an associate professor of clinical emergency medicine at the University of Southern California LAC+ USC in Los Angeles. They have been practicing as a Physician Attending for 13 years. Formerly, they were the chief of the division of emergency ultrasound. They currently serve as the Medical Director of the Evaluation and Treatment Clinic at Keck Hospital of USC. For almost three years, they have been the hospital physician champion for sepsis improvement. They work with the Quality and Outcomes Department to improve our performance in sepsis care. Additionally, they serve as the co-chair of the resuscitation committee, and we are actively working to use innovative ideas to improve the quality of care we provide for critically ill patients through better communication and education. Their quality interests are in initiatives that incorporate a variety of clinicians with different expertise, where cases are studied to expose system-wide failures and operational opportunities that could prevent recurrent events, errors, or future escalation of codes.
